Target Audience:  OMPs wanting to know more about the basics of glaucoma, or to study for the certifying exams.

 

Pre-requisites:  None, although a knowledge of basic ocular anatomy is helpful.

Description of content:   

 

This module discusses the different types of glaucoma, including causative factors and treatment options.

 

Instructional  objectives:  Upon completion of  this section,  the student should be able to:

  • identify characteristics of each type of glaucoma

  • define terminology related to the types of glaucoma

  • identify characteristics of the various treatments for glaucoma

   
 

About the Authors: 

 

Rohit Krishna, MD, has been a glaucoma specialist and surgeon since 1999.  He completed a glaucoma fellowship at Bascom Palmer in Miami and is now the Director of the Glaucoma Service in the Department of Ophthalmology, UMKC School of Medicine in Kansas City. 

 

Gary Gallimore is a certified ophthalmic technologist who assists with research at the Eye Foundation of Kansas City and works for a large multi-specialty ophthalmology practice in the metro area of Kansas City.   He has taught CE courses for many years on all subjects of ophthalmic technology.  He served as co-author for this module.
