This is because these subjects have been covered well in the book Ophthalmic Medical Assisting. In order to take the assistant level certifying exam, you must first read this book (which is referred to as a "homestudy course") and complete the exam that comes with it. Therefore, this book is widely available. If your office or clinic does not have a copy of this book, you can order it from the AAO.
