EOM Related Skills 

 

 

 

 

 

OVERVIEW

 

 

 

Estimated study time:  One hour.

 

Program Level:  Basic and intermediate

 

Target Audience:  OMPs with little or no knowledge of EOM related skills, and more experienced OMPs wanting review.

 

Pre-requisites:  Knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the extaocular muscles is helpful.

Section 1:

The Worth 4 Dot Test
   
 

Description of content: This section discusses the objectives of the Worth 4 Dot test and describes how to perform the test.

 

Instructional  objectives:  Upon completion of  this section,  the student should be able to:

  • describe how the Worth 4 Dot test works and what it tests for

  • identify the conditions indicated by the results of the Worth 4 Dot test

   
 

Section 2:

The Red Lens Test

   
 

Description of content:  This section discusses the objectives of the Red Lens test and describes how to perform the test.

 

Instructional objectives:  Upon completion of this section,  the student should be able to:

  • describe how the Red Lens test works and what it tests for

  • identify the conditions indicated by the results of the Red Lens test

   
 

Section 3:

Hirshberg/Krimsky Measurements

   
 

Description of content:  This section discusses the objectives of the Hirshberg/Krimsky measurements and describes how to perform the measurements.

 

Instructional objectives:  Upon completion of this section,  the student should be able to:

  • describe how the Hirshberg/Krimsky techniques work and what they measure

  • calculate the results of the Hirshberg/Krimsky measurements

 

Section 4:

The Bagolini Lens Test

   
 

Description of content:  This section discusses the objectives of the Bagolini Lens test and describes how to perform the test.

 

Instructional objectives:  Upon completion of this section,  the student should be able to:

  • describe how the Bagolini Lens test works and what it tests for

  • identify the conditions indicated by the results of the Bagolini Lens test

 

Section 5:

Exophthalmometry

   
 

Description of content:  This section discusses the objective of exophthalmometry and describes how to perform the measurement.

 

Instructional objectives:  Upon completion of this section,  the student should be able to:

  • describe the procedure for performing exophthalmometry and what the instrument measures

  • describe how to record the results of exophthalmometry
